Temporary Travel Document

Hello guys,
I got my PR in January 2005 and had given my friend's address for the card to be mailed. I plan to go to his house and get my PR Card myself some time soon but I know I cannot enter Canada with out a Temporary travel document. Could one of you please let me know how I could obtain a travel doc and also if I could approach Detroit office for this document? I will appreciate any help on this. Thanks a lot

YOu can cross the border w/o a PR Card if it is non-commercial means. If you rent a car and drive across to pick up your card you don't need a travel document. If you want to get one anyhow see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/travel.html
