Temporary overseas position with an approved I-140

My I-140 is approved under EB3 category and my priority date is Oct 2008. From my immigration perspective, I am evaluating pros and cons of taking a temporary overseas position (like Singapore, Middle East) for 1-2 years with the same company who is processing my green card. With the current pace of progression of priority dates for EB3, I do not anticipate my priority date becoming current in the next 4-5 (may be more) years and I am wondering if I am posted on an overseas assignment for 1-2 of years would jeopardize my immigration process in any way. I would appreciate if anyone could share their insight/experience in this matter.
