Temporary I 551 stamping

Hi
I had my temp I 551 stamping - and am planning to go to India on that stamp. When I come back - is that stamp enough to let me in.
The stamp does not contain a photo - and just satus - permitted as a lwaful resident for the next 1 year ( till i get the actual card i suppose).

Will ppl in the airport recognise it to let me in ?
is there any other document that i need to take along with me.

The officials at the airports are familiar with the I-551 stamp.
You can make the travel with just that.

I'd like to add one thing to his topic. Ensure that the arilines your are taking is familiar with the I-551 stamp as with the I-130 permanent card.

A colleague was returning form Taipei through Vancouver BC via some Canadian Airlines. They did not let him board. He went to the American Institute in Taiwan to get a letter explaining it was ok, but was delayed.

I would guess that with the high number of desi immigrants here, the Airlines going to India would be more familiar, but go ahead and verify with them just to make sure.

As far as US Immigration is concerned, you're good. Remember, if for any reason they're suspicous just entering your A# in their computers will enable them to verify your status from their own source.

THIS IS GOOD INPUT FOR THOSE HAVING 551 stamp BUT HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED THEIR PHYSICAL GC yet
