Temporary Evidence of Permanent Resident Status after lost GC

I lost my Green Card and applied for a replacement card by e-filing I-90. In the mean time I need to travel outside the country. I took an infopass appointment at Newark, NJ district office for stamping the passport for temporary evidence. They refused to stamp it as my travel is not an emergency. I also asked the immigration officer at Newark ASC when I went for biometrics and she refused and said I need to go to the district office. Does any body have luck getting a stamp in the passport after a lost green card? :confused:
 
they have by the law to give you one year stamp , im not sure where are bringing this stupied laws , one thing you may try is try to go to cherry hill office or try the new york office
