Temporary EAD when RFE?

All,
My friend got RFE on EAD and replied has been updated by USCIS. Can he go to local office to get Temporary EAD where 90 days has been gone of the orignal receipt. His currenty EAD will be expire in next week.
If he does not get from local office, what would be consequences?
Any advice/comments will be appriciated.

Once a RFE is issued on an EAD application, the applicant cannot get Interim EAD. This is the worst kind of situation to be in. Your friend cannot do anyhthnig, except wait for the desicion t his RFE response. Meanwhile if his EAD expires he has to stop working 'officially'. He can always make an arrangement whereby he works but only gets paid once he gets his EAD. Bt rememeber this is illegal, so be careful.
