TD visa - effect Canadian Citizenship

Hi, Just wondering about my wife's citizenship period while she is on TD in USA. she got PR of Canada in Mar 2006, and came to USA in Dec 06. what will happen about eh time she's spending in USA. will she be able to apply for Canadian citizenship after 3 yrs as required by law. or they'll reduce this period spent outside of Canada.

Offcource if the 3 years time is not spend in Canada within the 5 years time frame the Citizenship requirements are not met.....

At best, she maybe able to maintain her Canadian PR if the 2 out of 5 years residency requirement is not met.
