TB skin test while pregnant - find doctor who'd give exemption?

Hi all. I got an appointment with a doctor to get a medical exam. I also did some research on pregnancy and TB skin tests, and I am not comfortable getting the test since there has been no real research done on its effects on a developing baby (I am 6 months pregnant).

The doc's nurse said it's required - no exceptions, and it's safe. And of course, I don't care what they say, I'd rather do the research myself. So, I am stuck now. Would I have to wait till I deliver? Did anybody find a doctor who signed med exam papers with "condition" to get the test done after birth?

PS. The nurse also said that my application will be denied with an incomplete med exam. Wouldn't they look at other stuff, and approve that, and then just send me some paper stating that I need to take the following missed tests?

You can request the doctor to do an X-ray instead of the skin test. It is a bit more expensive.

Some countires have TB immunization mandatory meaning those people react to the skin test showing positive results (because their immune system recognizes TB infection). In those cases doctors order a chest X-ray.

I'm not sure about the affects of a chest X-ray to a developing embrio.

X-ray is a NO NO for pregnant women it has bad effects to the baby. I have been pregnant before. :)

The Doctor will base on your PPD skin test result if you need to have an X-ray(5mm or more).

No, sometimes they will deny you for missing any required part of the medical. Especially if you are doing consular processing or if they have specifically requested you to complete the medical and submit the details by a certain date.

But if you filed the I-485, and something was missing from the I-693 medical, they usually will later send an RFE requesting what was missing instead of an outright denial. Then if you failed to provide what was requested by the deadline, that's when you'd get denied.

Have you filed the I-485 yet? If not, you may be able to just delay it and the medical for 3 months (depending on your current immigration status and what category of green card you are filing).

i just had a baby and my friend who was in my mommy group, just had it done, and I asked 3 separate doctors, my OB, my RE and my PP when I may have been pregnant because we were trying, (when I had my tb test done) and ALL of them, including what it says online clearly says, it is NOT harmful to the baby. 99.9% of medical professionals will tell you, it's safe. Why would you trust probably online research over medical professionals? I doubt many get doctors notes, because doctors know it's safe.

Dont worry just refuse the test. Are they God? No. Your body is your body, USCIS just need to grow up and accept you for you.

Are you trying to imply that God's laws should be overruled by man's laws? What's wrong with posting at 5.15 am anyway, is it against US laws? Are you trying to monitor my sleeping habits? I will sleep and wake up when I want SIR.

I really do not want this to turn into a religious flame war, nor do I want this to be a 50 page debate, but it seems (based on your recent postings / spam) like you have some sort of vendetta against USCIS policy and their rules and how you think "God's law" should overrule everything else when it comes to permanent residency applications. One thing you must realize is that God's law, as you put it, means squat in the eyes if USCIS. The rules are the rules, love it or leave it, it's their way or the highway and you just have to accept it.

Now as far as me "monitoring your sleeping habits", I am not. I am merely making an observation. I don't know if you know this, but anytime you post it states the time you posted and I just think it's odd that at 5:15 AM, of all things you could be doing, you choose to spam an immigration board with nonsense. I do not know what kind of life you live, or what you do for work or whatever (and nor do I care to know), but at 5:15 AM I am typically waking up and starting to get ready for work. But that's just me.

You were already warned by a mod today about your spam posts here, I suggest you heed the warning or else you'll be on your way to finding another message board to undoubtedly spam (another thing you may not know is that whenever you post, you IP gets logged and therefor mods have an easy way to ban you).
