taxes of co sponsor

We are ready to send the papers for AOS this week but the joint sponsor's taxes are not ready yet. he got an extension from the office who makes his taxes for 3 months. we have the copies from the previous 2 years. i dont want to wait 2 months. the question is : will the explanation letter from that office will help us ? or i have to wait 2 months.( ?
 
get a different sponsor, or wait 2 months... if you do not send the required information, you will get a RFE and that will end up delaying your case anyways.
