Hello All:

I am planning to land in Canada very soon. Few questions,

Right now I am just going to land in Canada and I will go to Canada permanantly at some later time point which I have not decided yet. I will have 3 years to decide and in the mean time I don't want to pay taxes in the canada either.

Q1: What are reqirements for filing tax returns in Canada? e.g SIN card or drivers licence or canadian bank account (checking only) holders?

Q2: Lets say I apply for SIN # and open a bank account then would I have to only file taxes or have to pay taxes too?

Could some one share their thoughts?

If you "land" and then return to US you would not be considered resident for taxation purposes. Having a SIN does not make you resident, you would have to pay income tax on any interest the bank account generated in Canada.

I heard that SIN

I have heard that paying taxes and filing tax papers are 2 different things.

Tax is on income. No income from Canada no tax.

By having some ties to Canada like residence, drivers licence, SIN card or bank account triggers to have taxes papers filed.

Any way how many tax form one need to file in Canada?

Federal + provice? Do you know websites for them?
