I had a question for my friend. She is a Canada PR since 2002 and a US PR since 2003, Dec. She lived in USA. However, she is using some friend address in canada to report her tax return for canada and her usa address for us tax return. Now, the tax audit in canada is asking her to provide the documents in supporting her Foreign tax income (which is her US income). The problem is her tax income statement has ONLY her US address. She is wondering if she can provide this document or not. If not, she will be asked for more panelty and tax for Canada. In addition, her previous year tax return will be audit too.

What should she do?
1. Can She claim not Canada resident anymore and refuse the audit or payment?
2. Is she safe to provide her US income document? (Nothing affect her US and Canada residence?)

thanks

-- She could later but not now when there is an audit going on , as this would raise more red flags on her file.

--Yes, Should not be an issue

Should I File Canadian Taxes

Hello,
I landed in canada last year (October) and returned back to the US immediately. My Question is should i be filing Canadian taxes for 2004 ?
BTW I had told the immigration officer that i was returning to the US and will only be back in canada in June '05.
Thanks
