Tax transcripts - not available in TX

I was trying to find an IRS office where we could get the tax transcripts. I found the website but it says that they only provide to extreme situations like hurricane victims, emergency victims. Do you have any other suggestions to where else we could get the copies of previous tax return/transcripts?

Don't know what part of TX you are at, but IRS Houston Office is off US 59 (Southwest Freeway) at Gessner. They may help you out.

Did you call or walked in the office? Were they able to give you the copies of past 5 years?

What was the give away? How did you know I lived in Spring Branch? I didn't know IRS had an office in Spring Branch though. I haven't tried getting the tax returns from IRS yet. I am taking a vacation for a month in January, after I come back I will work on preparing the last 5 years of tax returns for the interview ( hoping it will happen soon ).

I called the branch office but I wasn't able to talk to a person. Instead I called the 800 number provided and I was able to request the tax transcripts for the last 5 years over the phone! They will mail it within 5 days. It was painless and pleasant...except for the 1.5 hour waitng on the phone.
