Hi

I know you have to submit 3 years tax returns to the consulate for CP. But do they really see if you have filed it correctly or not, I might not have used the correct forms for the last 2 years and IRS didnt seem to care, but the CP office might???

thanks

I think Rajeev has answered your question appropriately in another thread. It's OK as far as CP interview is concerned as you have filed and paid appropriate taxes. But you may want to correct the filing of earlier two years taxes also just to be straight with IRS.

Thanks.

Sorry - I don't mean to hijack this thread - but I have a couple of additional questions on the topic of tax returns:

1. Should we take the physical tax returns (i.e. Forms 1040) and the W-2 with us to the interview OR should we obtain trascripts from the IRS? Or both?

2. Are we also required to submit evidence of state tax returns in addition to federal

3. Since the tax returns are not mentioned anywhere on the document list I received in Packet 3 - are they really essential??

Thanks

For your first question:

If you still have enough time for your interview, it is better to call IRS and obtain the tax transcripts for the last three years. If you not, you can still carry the Physical Tax returns ( Federal + State, etc... ) EITHER THE CASE, YOU SHOULD CARRY YOUR W2's. You don't have to submit your original W2's as long as you have a copy of them for submission.

For your second question:

Yes.

your third question:

Yes. If you want a smooth CP process...
