Tax returns with I-864

Hi, I am filing the green card of my parents. The form I-864 asks for tax returns: most recent one is required, and last 3 years is optional. Do people have any recommendations based on personal experience? As in, if I send only the most recent one, is it okie?

I only sent in the previous year tax return. However, I sent in a tax transcript and a 1099/W2 transcript from that year. To be on the safe side I did request year 2 and year 3 from the IRS, but I didn't send it in. If you need transcripts then you will have to call the IRS. The IRS will mail them to you for no charge. Some places actually prefer the transcript and not a copy of the form, since the transcript shows it was received by the IRS and any modifications that were done by the IRS.
