Hi,

I have reading the documentation to take to the interview.
I have a question: I apply by 5 years as a LPR:

I´ve been without working 2 years, so I am sure they are going to ask me documentation about financial support. My wife have been working and we did taxes jointly. could I use this documentation:
-I have federal account transcript 2005 and tax return transcripts 2006-2009. It is what I got. they
only provide tax return transcrip for current year and 3 previous but I got account transcript 2005.
Is there any problem If I use account transcript 2005 instead of tax return transcript?o o it
I called lastday and requested account transcript 2006-2009.
I am going to get the state taxes and I think I am going to have the same problem.
- I read that is good to get an affidavit. I was thinking to get one from my wife. Do you know how to do it?any sample?. Is good to buy the form from UPS and do it notarized.??.

Please help.
thanks

ok, seems I've already partially answered your question on the parallel thread (http://forums.immigration.com/showt...-documentation-to-show.&p=2181833#post2181833). There is nothing uncommon for one spouse to stay at home, so having tax transcripts of the past 5 years should really suffice (should the question even arise in your interview). You only need federal tax transcripts, USCIS usually does not care about state tax returns (unless you had unpaid tax bills for your state tax, IO then would want to see you have no unsettled tax debt).

You're applying on 5 years LPR, you do not need any affidavit of your wife. many of our spouses are in the same situation. Honestly, unless there is a hidden complication in your case that you haven't mentioned in any of your threads yet, you're over-thinking and over-worrying this naturalization process.

Did you get your GC based on your employment or as a dependent of a LPR or US citizen? For the former (EB), unless you have been out of a job right after you got your EB-GC, there won't be much of questioning either.

Thanks for your answer,

I got my green card throught lottery.
I did my taxes for the 5 years.
Well, I am asking this kind of questions because I read some forums and one person was required to provide tax return and financial support. I think that tax return show that you had financial support but I don´t know why the IO officer required more informatin as a financial support. I read that affidavit is ok to this problem in addition to tax returns. I don´t what kind of affidavit, form from ups, I-134 from USCIS...

What about the question about tax return transcrip. I have account transcript 2005 and tax return transcript 2006-2009. Any problem??
Thanks

You're still over-worrying for this :-) Being married means both spouses support each other, support is implied in married-filing-jointly, no need for an affidavit for the USC interview. Unless there is doubt that your marriage is not in earnest, the financial support question will with a high probability not come up in your interview. And before I worry you with the earnestness of your marriage: you do not have to proof the quality of your marriage in a 5 year LPR natz application.

Getting naturalized is exciting and can make one anxious, I've been just through that process myself :-) But let me try to put you more at ease: You seem to apply for a straightforward 5year based naturalization, have hardly spent any days out of the country and as far as I can tell no run-ins with the law. So unless you're hiding any skeletons (I don't think you do), the IO will *want* to give you your citizenship. Do realize that in a forum like this, you more often read about the complicated and on-edge cases, much less about the straight-forward cases. But those difficult cases are actually far more rare than the "normal" cases...

Should be no problem, since the account transcript has actually more info (e.g. any adjustments made after you filed, rare for most tax payers). But quite likely, the IO won't want to either one.

David,

Thank so much for your answer. I really appreciate.
In addition, I am going to get the state taxes. I think that they are not free. Is it correct or you know?.
I am from California. $20 tax return/year. I am going to get free transcript. do you know something??
thanks again and congratulations for your citizenship

thanks and you're welcome.

Why would you want to get state tax transcripts? I really doubt you'd need them for any proof, they don't really show more than the federal returns (e.g. the federal already proofs the common income and that you filed married-jointly.

BTW, what is your time line, have you filed already?

David,

I read that it is good to take with you just in case. Some people was requested to provided state returns. That´s because I am asking about it. I got the federal account transcript for 2005-2009 calling the phone number 1800-829-1040. They sent me letters free of charge without any stamp but I think it should be fine. but I don´t know how and where to get a valid IRS transcript for state taxes.
And I don´t know if you have to pay something.

BTW, what is your time line, have you filed already?

Yes I already filed on March 29, have FP appointment on May, 13. I am preparing all documentation in advance.
