tax return mistake: should I worry?

Just want to know what you think about it.

I am getting ready for my interview in June now and here is my concern.

There is a mistake on my husband's tax returns ( he is the sponsor) for 2004, 2003, 2002 that we overlooked- instead of married the accountant put that he was single. All these tax returns went to CIS when I initially submitted all the forms. However , this year I made sure everything was right :we filed a joint tax return for 2005. Do you think that we still need to redo tax returns for 2004,3,2 or correct 2005 filed this year is good enough.? According to new rule : now they ask for the last year tax return , so having filed 2005 the right way we should be fine, shouldn't we? Or its more about real vs greencard marriages that they may bring up questions about other tax returns . We have plenty other stuff to show that our marriage is genuine and should we really be concerned about that mistake , in other words do you think we need to have those tax returns amended or it's not that important? Just hate the thought of going through the whole trouble of redoing tax returns.

Has anybody been in such situation? What whould you do in my case?

Thank you very much for any input.

If the officer look at it again...s/he probably will ask why he filed before as married (on 2004 he was married with you?) and then you can explain, but then you can add "there is the 2005 tax return since is the latest so you know...".

Good luck,

Sorry, I don't understand your post.
He filed before as single not married. We have been married for 4 years already and he should have filed as married ( not his mistake though).

From the people's experience that I read,I believe they only want to see that you have sufficient income.
Also,I think that now they need only one year's tax returns.

I am in a similar situation.I came to US in 2004 when I just met my wife.My CPA filed me as a "Head of HouseHold" and claimed my wife as a dependant on me.
We got married only in 2005 and I filed a joint tax return this year.
I hope this doesnt get me into trouble.

It's because I did not know how long you was married with your husband.
Well, for some experiences over here, some officers overlook the fact if the person filed as married or single.
