kd1403,

I posted this question to you in the other thread.

I want to know what is that company's tax document ? I am working for a product company (funded by VC,not a public). And I am not sure what I should carry for the interview?I ordered my transcripts for the years I worked and paid tax in US.

Thanks,

Every business entity in the US has to report income and pay federal taxes. It is these tax return documents that is asked.

Company Financial Docs

Hi,

I’d recently gone to Delhi for H1-B stamping and took a package from our Controller for Company Financials. Since we’re a privately held corporation, he put the documents in a sealed envelope with a cover letter to the Consular Officer stating that he is enclosing Company Financial Documents, in case they need, they could open the documents for review. He also requested that the documents be destroyed once they have served their purpose. I suggest that you do something similar.

My 2cents...

Company financials - its called w3 information.
it has same information of Gross to Net earnings and tax information like our w2's.

Like how our W2 is very personal, W3 is very personal and confidencial for the company. My company was not ready to give the document (previous years) even on a sealed envelop. They said they will provide if consulate asks for it. Fortunately they didn't ask for it in my interview.

My attorney said, Our I-140 documents will have these information at the consulate during interview but those guys ask it as if its a new document sometimes.

Thanks for the information,

When I went to Chennai for H1 stampingi ( sponsored by the same company) I did carry some document on Company information like about our product, funding, etc (some 4 pages) and it was addressed to American consulate. Is it enough to carry such type of documents?Did Consular officer ask any of you for these documents?

Thanks,

Company Docs

Hi ac140madras,

My H1 stamping interview @ Delhi in Jan 2004 was very simple -- the officer wanted to see my previous passport (as the earlier H1 was on the old passport) and then said that please give your mailing address to the courier. I requested afternoon pick-up, as I'd to be back in US for some urgent client meetings -- he said no problems. Once he said that everything is fine, I joked that he doesn't want to see my certs, company docs and experience letters -- he said that this is a H1 extension so he doesn't need to worry!

I would still recommend taking the proper set of docs for the Company support; I took:
* The sealed Financial Package from my Controller with the cover letter.
* Company brochures – standard marketing spiel.
* Printouts of some key pages of our website – company info, products, key people, clients, etc.

I suspect based on e-mails in these forums, that one should carry the same company docs for the IV interview also – no harm in being extra prepared. In case of name changes or merger, one would carry support for that too!

Good luck,

Rjain2

I completely concur. Inspite of the consular officer's statement (to Rjani) do not be complacent.

I had an H1 from consulate, a H1 from Washington and when I applied again, not only the consulate called me for a personal interview (not that anything was asked), but did take a close look at all my documents, including the IV petitions.
