Tax question with interview coming

My interview is scheduled for the middle of March. :D My husband took our taxes in and the tax guy incorrectly filed my husband's taxes as single instead of married. We will file an amendment but the amendment is done by mail so it won't be changed for a while. (The original incorrect one was e-filed.)

Do they look at the tax records? I can take a copy of the amended taxes to the interview and explain. Will this be an issue? Please help - I am very stressed out by this.

I have always done my taxes myself, but my husband had a tax guy. It hasn't been a great experience so far!!! :(

I am in a similar situation, though it's the IRS fault (I think). I filed Jointly and sent a W7 to request a TaxID for my wife and they sent it without the TaxID, so they marked it as Single (I think). I then sent an Ammendment (with my Wife's SSN which she just got). I was living out of the country so I filed 6 years worth of Taxes, and all as Single.

Now, how long have you been married? Any other items under both your names? I've been married 8 years and have 2 kids, so I'm hoping that will be enough. The only items under our names are our Bank Account.

We got married in Oct. 2006. We have joint bank accounts, and car and health insurance together as well as being listed as benificiaries. I moved in his house so the bills and house are all in his name; didn't occur to me to add mine. I will take all the info I can to the interview.

I would think that kids would be the clincher.... good luck.

no problem

since you are recently married, no need to worry about that. just bring whatever you have in both names.... no need everything is with both names.... i had the same situation and it didn't bother in the interview. Good luck!
