W-7

W-7

Hi Rex, apparantly the W-7 is for people who cant get ssn. Id like to know the one that you can use with your spouses taxes while waiting for ssn. Any ideas.

That's exactly my situation, waiting for the SSN since I don't have the EAD yet.
So, that's why my wife and I went to the IRS office and talked to those people how I could get a taxnumber. And that's what they said. Fill out W-7 and come back.
But I told this already in the other thread we met before.

W-7

Hi Rex, well i know for sure its not W-7 form, but im gonna investigate more perhaps with a call to IRS to see exactly what forms/procedure has to be met.

No Remedy

Hi Rex, as promised, i have found out thru IRS that you can NOT do anything regarding a possible REPLACEMENT to a SSN if your are eligible for a SSN, and if you got a EAD then you are eligible for a SSN. No inlieu of remedies. So my suggestion to all in our same boat is to have your spouse file indivually married, if its beneficial to your current situation(meaning if your expecting a return), or wait for your spouses SSN and file for an extention, and when theres comes in, then file. NOTE: filing an extention does not include relief from possible monies owed to IRS.

P.S. SSA told me today that theyre (DHS verification) is getting even more back logged.
P.S.S...maybe we should start a thread on here about when one applied for SSN. and when they actually received it
