Tax Filing Status

This is more like a tax question, but still hope some of you guys have come across this in the past.

I am quite confused with my filing status for the coming tax year 2010.

Here is my background information:
- married and had a baby last year overseas.
- was a resident alien last year, and just become US citizen this November, and living in US all along
- my wife and baby are living overseas along, and they have never lived with me in the US. They are not carrying any resident or citizen status

For tax year 2010, should I file as:
- single (because my marriage was done overseas and didn't register my marriage here with any legal authority)?
- married but file separately? However, my wife is not a resident/citizen of US nor lived here at all? In this sense, should I be classified as "married" or "single" for tax purpose?

Thanks for any help.

If your wife and child are not US residents, you have to file as single for tax purpose. FOr tax purposes residents are generally defined as anyone living in the US 180 days or more in a calendar year.
