Hi,

I am PR and was out of the US for < 2yrs b4 reentering using a re-entry permit. I was a student with no income in my country or in the US during that period. Do I need any kind of document for the citizenship interview to establish the above fact ? I already have my tax transcripts for the last 5 yrs.

Thanks a lot.

If you were not out of the county in the last 5 years for over 1 yr
I think your previous stays are irrelevant...

I was in the same situation as you and filed a "0" tax return, ie
a return with all 0's.. Dunno if it will help..

Get proof of ur student status then, and have reentry copy with u.. that should suffice in my opinion..

Other Gurus.... what do u feel

My thoughts on this issue...

It doesn't hurt to gather other relevant information as well other than just proof of student status in the U.S (e.g. how did you support yourself through school....student loan, funded by parents, other).

Once you become a USPR or USC, I believe you should file for taxes, eventhough you did not have any reportable income.
