Talked to NSC IO today. Got in line with a nice lady who was courteous to listen and answer.

Was on hold for 20 minutes before the IO picked up.

IO: Can I help you?
ME: Madam, my case was filed on Dec 2001 (PD) and still waiting for approval and just called in to check the status of my case.
IO: OK. We have a total of 18,000 pending cases and we are working on them. Can you please give me your Receipt Number.
ME: LINXXXXXXXXXX.
IO: Can you verify your name please?
ME: XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX
IO: OK. Your security check is still pending. Once it is done, your case should be approved.
ME: Can you please tell me how long will that take?
IO: Should be 30 to 60 days.
ME: Thank You Madam.

That was cool. But, I read in the forums that they have 16,000 cases pending a few days back. Looks like that has gone up now. I am still hoping for the best.

Previously, had an InfoPass couple of weeks ago and the IO told me that my Name Check is complete and she doesn't see any issues with my case and told me it should be a while before it gets approved.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the Security Check to complete? Thanks in advance.

Just thought of sharing this with you.

Don't know when the D-Day will be for me.

Folks

When I called in couple of weeks ago, there were 18,000 cases pending. So there is little movement since then!! Name check/Secuirty Check can take as less as 30 days or as long as your hair turns grey/white (if it is not already!!). So folks who are in this check crap boat, only luck can help you!! You can still make few calls but really it all comes down to your LUCK.
- Next time ask IO about how much visa number availability remaining for this year...which will give you good idea about your case...
- Ask them , what year they are processing I 485

You may not get all the answers but sometime you can get some info out.

Security Checks kick in almost after they collect the fees and get the finger printing / biometrics done.

So it might be going on since June 2003 for you ... So if you believe the girls who advised you on this -- its 4 years and counting.

My advise... dont give more weightage to security check crap

Guys,, i strongly beleive the IO thowing secuirty check crap... is to avoid explanation for reason for processing delays.. or random processing...

just sit tight and ur approval in on your way.....

What just you explained same think was told to me but i got my approval within 3 days.....

Make sure you open service request.... if not done yet...

I called NSC few weeks ago and I was told that all security/name check is cleared. In the Infopass appointment, I was told today that my security check is still pending.

Any advise on who generally has the right information, Local office (PHX) or the NSC ???

I have called NSC and they said that assigned to officer and you should hear in 60 - 90 days. I have asked her if everything looks ok with case and she said she can not guarantee but the io officer has to review. I don't know what she means about 'can not guarantee ' ?? Was it something to concern or worry? Anyone with the same exp. please share?

I too called this morning to NSC, think the same lady spoke to me .
She asked me all my details .
I asked her any checks are pending,like name check/security/background/FBI whatever it is..
She checked and told that nothing is pending aall cleared,
but your FP seemed to outdated(I never informed that I recieved FP to give this week, she herself told me reg.FP)
so you should get 2FP notice from us , if not she will inform the officers to sent a notice for me as soon as possible.
Then I told I got FP notice code 1 for this week.
She told me me go ahead give your 2FP and
definelty you should hear from us after FP.
Otherwise call us after a week giving you FP.
I asked after 2FP will my case agian go for all types checks,she said NO.
She told me same that 18000 cases are pending and there are lot with 01,02 PD cases
so Dont worry.

I had 3 Infopass appts and a few calls to NSC in the past few weeks.
1st Infopass IO said name check cleared, I just need to wait.
2nd Infopass IO said everything looks good on the system(whatever that means) and I need to wait.
3rd Infopass IO said, additional security check is pending.
NSC IO on one of the calls said security check is pending.
CSRs on the 800 # quote me the status from the online system which really has not been updated in a long time.

Raised an SR as well, got a response that my case is under additional review and I should call the 800 # if I don't hear back in 180 days.
For another SR raised in Sept 06, I got a similar message - call back in 90 days.

This is as inconsistent as it can get.....

I see people with RD in 2005 are getting approved, Mostly directly filed at NSC. Is this fair?

If I were you, I would visit a local office and ask them to set you up for a date for FP2. You shall need need most likely before you get an approval (if its expired)

See my signature. The IO lady told my case is already assigned and should take 30-60 days. Then I got the approval 7 days later. When she said "no guarantee" means very defensive answer. Nothing on the earth is guaranteed, buddy.

Did you folks find out, if there is still staging area/pool where "almost approved" application used to keep? It would be very useful info. Has anyone asked IO that are they processing based on labor or 485?

I talked to an IO today.

My case is not listed in the online status system. So I tried the prompts given in the forum to do a service request. The CSR said they cant find the case and escalated. After holding for about 20 min, the second tier ( I believe an IO, based on info from this forum) person said the case is under review. Not sure what it means, but she explained that it may be with a supervisor or something. She said some other things along with that, but I didnt quite get it. So I asked again, "is the case with an officer?" and she said yes. I am thinking (hoping) it is a good sign. Last week, when I called I didnt get that from them. They said everything looks allright. She also said that I shouldnt worry even if the status is not shown in the online system.

Did anyone else get a "under review"?

Thanks i already got letter from USCIS to give FP this 27th on last monday itself, last thursday i went to local office to pre-schedule my FP appt. to today(monday 25th) , they asked some proof, the reason for not coming on june 27th acc. to my letter, i told them abt case, but the lady refused and told me to come on the appt. day on wednesday.

sorry to hear so, pal. you look like the very old, rotten veteran in the jungle of 18,000 pending cases. Fortunately, now somebody smell you and schedule to execute your case, not sooner than the direct cases but, at least, you are in the track. Wish you best luck. Kept your faith.
