I talked to an IIO just now. He said that they are processing Oct 15th as of today and mine is Oct 17th. (He said that they process the application based on the date they receive the application via mail)
He said that he estimates another 30 working days within which I will/must hear something from the INS. It may be earlier than 30 days or later. But 30 days is a good bet, he said.
I can call them back after 30 days (if I wanted to I can call before that, he said) if I did not receive anything by then.
He also said that it would be lot better if we could give them the A# instead of the receipt number (He was kind of frustrated when I said I have EAC number when he asked for the A#). He said that receipt number will bring up thar particular application (I-485 or FP notice or AP) but the A# will bring in all the applications filed by that person.
So, for example, an address change made thru an A# will reflect in all the applications filed by the applicant, while with EAC number, the changes are made only for that application and the IIO has to remember to take time to go and change the same thing in all other applications of the applicant, which he said is really difficult as they get lots of calls and only so many people to handle things around there.
Hope this helps. I just hope its close for most of the Oct '01 filers!!
