talked to IIO, case assigned to officer

I am the primary applicant, my spouse applied as my dependent. my case got approved late March 2002 but my spouse did not hear anything from INS yet (our RD Mar. 01). my spouse called IIO and was told the case was assigned to officer on 4/28/02, can we trust the IIO on that? I remembered somebody saying IIO said it was assigned, and a couple days later another IIO said it was never assigned. And also, since my case was approved 2 months ago, my spouse is my dependent, can the officer tell from the file that my spouse\'s case is affilicated with mine and will also approve my spouse\'s? any input? thanks.
