I have been in australia for 1 year (1998-1999) and previously I have police cetificate from AFP sign on in the August 2000, for the interview can I bring and use the police certificate in year 2000?
I read on the instruction the embassy not mention for the expire validity for the police certificate..
Thank you guys for your kind information...:o

I think the police report should not be more than 6 months old. Currently you have a 10 year old police report - a lot of changes may have taken place since you had that certificate. It renders it void and therefore need to obtain a new one.

Your Australian police cert seems too old. I think valid period is 1 year or less. For example, US embassy Tokyo Japan says police cert is valid for 1 year in general (Japan and other countries' certificates). This rule will apply to only those who are going to take an interview at US Embassy Japan.
US Embassy of other countries might take different rule, such as 6 months, but I am not sure.

So, obtain a new police certificate ASAP if you are a DV2010 winner preparing for your interview. For those who are concerned about effective period of police certificates, I would suggest to contact US embassy of the country where you are to take an interivew. I think this is the best way to clarify this issue.

Good luck!!

Thank you ammeck & tmfl for your post, now I am confuse, my interview schedule on 27'th may and maybe God open my mind so I just realize yesterday my police certificate from australia was old. I checked from my country us embassy website, and from .dv lottery.state website but I could not find any information regarding this validity for police certificte (except from US.emb.in japan). The problem is ,if I just wait until the interview due and see if the consular told me to bring the new certificate (takes 3-4 weeks), is my visa still available?
In year 1998-1999 I am study in australia (student visa) and after 1999-2002 I went to australia using tourist visa for 4-6 weeks..

you can start the procedures for obtainig the police certificate now, it will take few weeks, and go normal to your interview with the old police certficate, if they accept it ok no provlem, if they didn't accept it then you tell them that you will bring the new on, so no need to be worry, you will make it :)

I agree with firo1234. I just wanted to let you know that it took more than a month/less than 2 months when my spouse got Australian police certificate last year. Do your best and make it happen!

Thank you for your post tmfl & firo, I thing I wait until the consular ask me to give new certificate, I just hope he/she doesn't ask for that, because after I am study, I just using a visa tourist to visit australia
