Taking a child to the oath ceremony.

Hi folks,

My wife and me have our oath ceremonies this Thursday, March 13, (in 4 days) in San Antonio, at the Trinity University.

We want to decide if we can/should take our 3 year old daughter along with us, or leave her with the babysitter.

Do the district offices allow children at the oath ceremony? Our oath letter does not state anything explicitly. We are wondering if its really inconvenient with a child at the oath ceremony or is it ok? Are there usually long lines where kids also have to wait?

You need to be aware that the whole process can take several hours. When I had my oath, my wife came with our 3-yr old son and it was tough after a couple hours. When she had her oath, we decided to leave him with a babysitter.

Since you are both doing your oath, I would recommend you leave you kid at home. When our son got irritable, my wife was able to take him outside, but if you are both taking the oath, you wouldn't have that luxury.

I also feel that if you both have oath, do not take child. In Atlanta, you can not sit with your child during oath so they have to sit your child with other family members. 3 year old may not want to sit alone and may cry/get upset. That would make it very hard on you. Oath ceremony can take 3-4 or more hours. Too long for kid that age.
