take break in I-485/EAD/AP?

Is it possible to take a break for say 3-4months (go to india for a family issue) while I am in I-485 stage with EAD/AP?
-> can i quit the current job and go ?
-> if i have to quit (employer not ok with break), do i need another job before traveling? or can i come back and look for job later?
 
If your I-485 is employment based then you need to have a permanent job offer since USCIS might request it at any time. Also you need to make sure that at least 180 days passed since you filed I-485 and your I-140 has been approved.
