Hello everyone
I'm Nowa
I'm 21 , from Syria , I live in Egypt now after the uprising in Syria started
I participated in a demonstration in the city of Tartous in Syria at the beginning of the events and for that reason i became wanted to the Syrian regime , I fled the country by sea to Egypt about 18 months ago
for this reason and many others i couldn't say here , I'm in danger here and the Syrian embassy in Egypt has a huge number of gang members which we call ( Shabiha ) to track down activists like me
I found a way to be in Lax or other airport in the states soon
I will ask for political asylum
so what should i expect ?
I know that I'll be detain 24-48 hours to have an interview with the officer
but what happens next ?
I really need your experience and support on this
thank you
best,
Nowa

Hello Nowa, welcome to the forums.
1st of all I do not think applying for political asylum in the airport can be a wise decision, although it might fasten the process (I do not know), however I think if you give yourself time after arrival to US, educate yourself about the Asylum process and prepare your personal statement well and gather the required evidences and COP information then you can fill I-589 form and submit everything to USCIS, then prepare for interview this will give you more time and better preparation that might help you to get your asylum approved, you can even hire a lawyer if you can afford one and get a translator as well if you do not speak English well. Unlike the other case where you come from long flight (24+ hrs) and you still suffer from jet lag and go direct to interview. Bare in your mind that whatever statement you write under these conditions or any word you say during the interview might affect the final decision about your case. My advice is to book your flight to a city you have relatives or family then after arrival and rest for sometime you can start to prepare to apply for asylum, you can search these forums for info and you are welcome to contact me if you want more advice.

Thank you danti
believe me if I could i would
I will arrive in the airport without a visa
the only thing i can do is applying for asylum
and you are right about the flight time , it might be 20 hours straight
but i will rest in the airport , i won't apply right away , i might wait until i catch my breath and pull myself together
, I will act like I'm waiting for a plane , its the only way i have , the other is to wait and face death here
