Hi all people in this big boat, I need your suggestions!

I filed my I140 (NIW) and 485 a year later at Vermont Service Center. Now my I140 was approved but 485 was still pending at VSC. The question is, if I switch my job to California, do I need to report this to VSC? I know I need to inform them about my address change, but is that all? I am currently on H1B.

I am getting conflicting info on this issue. I asked several lawyers and 1/2 of them said, yes, your case will be transfered to California Service Center, and the other half said, no, becuase yours is an NIW case.

What I am concerned is that I have been waiting for my 485 for almost 2 years now (probably stucked at FBI name check). If my case is tranfered to CSC,
1) does that mean I need to wait from all over again?
2) has bad impact on my case?

Thank you so much if you could give me some info, or at least say, ha, poor guy, he is hesitating like we do!

Address

I had my I-140 approved (EB1- self sponsored) and I filed I-485 at NSC as I was in Ohio. After waiting >1.5 years, I changed moved to MA. My file was automatically transferred from NSC to VSC after 2 years of the filing date. and now it is at the local office for an interview to be scheduled. Another one year- wait. You have to file AR-11 for Address Change as it is mandated by the DHS (it goes to Kentucky). You also need to inform NCSC about your new address, so you continue to get all your notices etc from the USCIS.

Thank you for your answer, pras01. So there are people in the same shoes of mine!

So the files did get transfered if the applicant switched from one center to another. Will this cause a delay on the application, or will it actually triger some new actions? hm, who knows... hmm.

Thanks again for your responding!
