I got laid off last year and within a month I found another job. Previously I was a consultant now I am aa permanent employee. Still in the same field. Will it effect my i-485 processing?
I heard it depends on how soon you changed your job after I-485 receipt notice. I was told that it is OK as long as it is 180 days after the receipt notice. It seems this is the new law, but I am not sure when it was effective.
I applied for I-485 in mid February 2002 and I switched jobs in end of September. So I think 180 days criteria was met by me. So you think that should be OK?
I understand AC21, but that has to do with H1B holders. But do you know or have you ever heard of the case of J1 holder doing the same procedure (I140 approval and I-485 pending and EAD approval)?
