Switch over from H1-B visa to EAD

Hi,

In a couple of months, I will be switching over from H1-B to EAD status. Is there any document that needs to be submitted to the HR in regards to this status change? If so, what are those documents?

My attorney has indicated that there is nothing that I need to do, just that my status would automatically change from H1-B to EAD once my H1-B expires. Is that a fair statement? Should the attorney be involved in this transition process?

Please advise.

file the I - 9 form

I think your employer should file the I 9 form thru your lawyer and also lawyer should inform, change of lawyer form which was was given by you and also the I 9 to INS. I am not a lawyer. Your lawyer can guide you.
