I had my I-140 approved a year ago. At that time I decide to do the CP, adjust my status outside U.S. My interview date is two weeks from now. My lawyer tell me it is too risky to go oversea and suggest I file 485 in U.S. Does anyone have a idea of how long I should wait until I get the green card if I file 485 from beginning in U.S.

u better go for interview

If its only two weeks away, why is he suggesting you something like this...
If I were you, I would not listen and wait for another year or so for the 485. Yes, if there is any complication in ur case like salary reduction, lays off in the company etc... then u should think of it.

It is your call to decide CP vs AOS....

You can still file 485 and request the file to be transferred to INS-VT
using form I-824....It will take another 10-12 months for processing
here....whereas you can get the GC in India in 2 weeks.....If your case
is not straightforward, do it here....I\'ve seen some people stuck in India for the last
14 months......Approval rate for CP is close to 97-98%......
