Surrendering green card

Hi my family and me have F4 based green cards since August 23. My sons are 22 and 27. My question is if I surrender my green card, will it affect the boys and my husband? I was the principal applicant.
Also what's the best way to surrender? To mail or surrender at us entry? I would like to apply for a visitor visa asap to be able to visit
Thank you

@charu sahni , Are you currently out of US? Name suggests maybe at India or England.
Seems like you don't want to move on to USC.
Anyway, as far as I think, you, the primary applicant surrendering GC should not effect husband or kids.
They have GC by their own right. You sponsored their GC.
Taking their LPR status away would put US Govt in legal jeopardy. Imagine, if you die in road accident today, it won't take their LPR status away just because you left them and all of us.

Thanks for your reply! That makes sense. Yes I am outside right now. Any tips on the bestvway to surrender? Is mailing a fool proof method or best is to make a trip and then hand over tobthe officer at the immigration desk?

I think you can do it by visiting your local US consulate.
Some countries with high immigration rate have US consulate at multiple cities.
India has it at New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad.

UK has them at London, Belfast, Edinburgh, etc
