I am planning to apply for cancellation of Indian passport and obtaining Surrender Certificate at the NY Consulate. I am a bit confused on how to pay for return postage and include the return envelope along with the application.
I will be sending my documents via USPS Priority Mail and I would like to have them returned via Priority Mail as well. The instructions on NY Consulate website ask you to include a self-addressed Priority Mail envelope along with the postage and label. It would be difficult to include a Priority Mail envelope inside the Priority Mail envelope that I would be sending my documents in.
Can anyone who has applied for SC at NY Consulate clarify this? Do they expect you to just include return postage and a shipping label or do they actually want you to also include an empty envelope for return postage? If it is the latter, how do people manage to send the Priority Mail envelope since it is thick and cannot be folded?
I know this seems like a simple question, but I am quite confused on the return postage instructions so would appreciate help from those who have done this recently.
Thank you.
