Hi
I want to share my pleasant experience with INS office here at Houston! I went there for stamping with my family (wife & two kids) at 1.00 pm & followed the blue line. Was informed that stamping for Green card has been temporarily stopped till 5th March due to other workload (special registration?). When I informed them that we need to travel next week they told us to come the next day early (around 4.00 am or 5.00 am) & take a number in the line. Then I requested one of the gentleman at the Blue line window once again & explained them the problem of coming early with kids etc & he talked to his supervisor. He then personally walked down with me to the Information window & handed over 4 numbers & asked me to wait till I am called.
Within half an hour they actually opened a new window for me & my family & stamped the passports after talking the approval notice (courtesy copy), I-94, EAD, AP & INS style photos. The process took about 45 mins for all of us! I was very much thankful & pleasantly surprised by INS.
For those going to Houston INS office either go very early in the morning or go after 5th MArch unless you want to try your luck like me!!!
