Surcharge fee for CP

Hi Raj,

I 've come to know through this forum there is security fee of $45.
Can you please let me know whether Rs 1980 is mentioned in the appt. letter or one has to take $45 exchange rate DD. Also, in whose favor should one take the DD.

I've found answers to the above.
Consulate website mentions exchgange rate as 1$=Rs 44. So, Rs 1980 for $45 makes sense.The DD should be drawn in favor of "American Consulate General, Chennai".

Dear Ram.
You are right. If you take DD from any nationalized indian bank which has branch in chennai than make it for Rs 1980. If you are taking from a foreign bank which has a branch in chennai than you can take DD for $ 45. You should make DD payable to " American Consulate general, Chennai"
