Supporting docs for selective service letter

Hi, I am in the process of getting a "Status Information Letter" from selective service. I was not required to register as I got my GC after I was 27 years old. Before that I was on F1 and H1B statuses. My question is, what supporting docs should I send with the request form?

I can think of:

1. F1 visa and stamp of initial US entry in passport (I don't have my original I-94).

2. I-20

3. Approval notice for COS to H1B.

4. Approval notice for I-485 for GC.

Do I need to attach a copy of my F1 EAD, or that is included in the F1 status. Does anybody have any personal experience with this?

Your list is about all what I sent too, I think I may have also included a copy of the GC with the other docs you list. It took a 2-3 weeks to get the letter after I sent in the information. All the best.

Should I get this too?

Hey guys,

When I got my GC (the date based on which I plan on applying N-400), I was 27 years old. I did not even know about this Selective Service thing until a month ago. But I read in these forums that if you're older than 26 when you get your GC, Selective Service requirement does NOT apply to you.

(1) Is my understanding correct?
(2) Should I still get this "Status Information Letter" like jllag1?

Thanks for your help.

Actually, the cutoff line is the 26th birthday, so you don't need to register for selective services is you are older than 25 when you get the GC (provided that you weren't out of status sometime before, because illegals are technically required to apply...)
for samebody out status before his 26 birthdays (even for 6 months)..what he suppose to do?
how he can show the immigration officer that he never heard about selective service registration?
It's true after your 37 birthdays failure to register do not affect your citizenship application?

I don't really need it right now, my citizenship is 2.5 years away. But I figured, what the hell, let me just get the letter as I am gonna need it later on.

Re: Supporting Docs to get Status Info' Letter

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will be seeking the status info' letter. But the only documentation to show my student status are:
a) The F1 visa stamp in the passport
b) Copy of transcripts (Grades)
c) Copy of my degree
Will the above be adequate to seek the Status Info' letter ?

Thanks
