Well I am posting this suggestion as per my experience getting PCC from any Indian Consulate. As soon as you decide to go for a CP or are already in the process for CP then do not late for the last moment to get your PCC.

Usually we are all afraid that we dont know how long will the CP process take and what if we get the PCC done and the CP takes longer than expected and PCC get expired or so.......

But there is one thing all can do..... And here is my suggestion for that:

-- Apply for the PCC by filling out the appropriate forms and attaching required documents like passport copy, Passport size Photo, the PCC charge amount, etc.....

-- Usually the PCC process works like the Indian Consulate send the information to our corresponding Local Police and Passport Office to get clearance. And this usually takes like 30 to 45 days.

-- If due to some reason they do not get a clearance in these 45 days or so then by default they issue us a PCC.

-- Now once you are passed this 45 day time line (whether you get a clearance from them or no) you are bound to get the PCC and then all you have to do is send your original passport and mail back postage amount... Make sure to call to them that your case has been confirmed and whats the status....

-- Now the ball is your court. Now you can take your own time to send your pasport for final PCC. And once you think that you are very close to your interview then send your passport to them with an appropriate cover letter that your case has been approved for so and so month....

-- And you can get your PCC dated most recent within a weeks time.

Hope this helps.

GoodLuck to you All....

Validity of PCC

As per the US consulate in Chennai, PCC is valid for 1yr from date of issue.

Just an added note.
