Hi,
I am thinking of coming to US through a consultant... and need some inputs/suggestions from you based on your experiences/perceptions..
Currently working in a reputed MNC in Bangalore with decent Salary (Rs 4 Lakhs) (3 years exp)
There would be many guys like in this group, and it would be great if someone can share his experience.
1. The main reason for coming to US is that, i am from North India and right now working in Bangalore (a reputed MNC though) anyway i m staying away from my family, and it makes no difference if I stay here or in US.
And, i m planning to come back india after 5 years, after which i would have earned 4-5 times compared to what i would have earned staying here.. and after that am planning come back and settle down here in India.
And anytime, i can decide to come back, and it should not be a problem to find a decent job here, as i have US work experience.
Do you this is an appropriate decision? and do you think/suspect anything wrong in this plan?
2. There are 2 ways this can be done..
A. Join some company in India which has onsite opportunities involved.
B. Go to some consultant, get your H1 done, go to US and search for jobs.
In the former, the problem is that no employer gives a 100% gaurantee to send onsite, it may be that they send after 1-2 years or that they send for 2-3 months and then i have to stay back here. Also the salary in A is less than in B (??)
In the later the disadvantage is that it involves risk, fistly the consultant should be trusted, secondly, i will have to do contract based jobs, and life becomes unpredictable..
But i think i should go for the 'consultant' way because, this is the age in life when i can take risks, and better to stay there during this stage, when i dont have many responsiblilties..
Am i correct ? What do you think should i prefer ?
3. Now, having said all this, the fact is that i have filed my H1 in last year's quota through a consultant and according to his terms, i have to pay Rs 2 lakhs as 'security deposit' if i go through him, which i will get back after 1 year if i stay with him.
After I get H1b, and I reach there, he will help me get a job, and will bear my living expenses till i get on to project.
The guy is reliable in the sense that some of my friends have been there through him last year (so, atleast he is not a total fraud)
Now, i have ALSO got a few consultants who are ready to do it in a quiet cheap deal (Rs 60 k), but in that case, i will have to wait for atleast next 4-5 months (this years quota), and I can easily make more money than Rs. 2 lakhs within this period
What do you suggest ? is it OK to go with this consultant ?
Also, another question arises: For getting a Job in US, is a US experience in a small company given more preference than Indian experience in a well known MNC ?
Please suggest, what would you do if in my place?
There would be many of you and/or some of your friends who have been through this stage in life,
and believe me, you small input would be very much valuable for me.
Thanks in Advance,
Amit
