Suggestion for ciba : introducing "FP clearance" date and analysis on "cl

Hello ciba !

Currently there is analysis only on the date when FP was taken.
From multiple evidence it looks like FBI does its job in 48 hours
and electronically transferred results to CSC, where they are filed
in so-called "system 1" and sorted using Alien number as a key.
After that they are transferred to "system 2" (receipt number).
I guess that the background check is done as part of this transferring process, but I might be wrong.

I suggest that everybody who knows when his/her FP was transferred to system 2 will provide this information, so it will be possible to see
correlations between approval time and "transfer" time.

Ciba, may be you can add "background check" data
or "system 1 to system 2" date to your database.

Here is my info

tt246 on ciba list: EB2(RIR)
WAC-01-099 -xxxxx
RD 1/19/01
ND 2/8/01
FP 5/2/01
in "system 1" 5/3/01 (IIO find it by my alien number)
in "system 2" 7/13/01 (How lucky I ! am It\'s Friday 13 :-) (IIO find it by my WAC)

With thanks and my deep appretiation for maintaining the database

This is a good idea. However, we don\'t know whether the
FP theory is true or not. Beside, how could folks know
when their results were moved to the "main" system. By
calling CSC? Wouldn\'t this encourage folks to call up
(and potentially jam up) CSC AVM system? We will have
to think it over whether to do this or not.

Some answers

Hello ciba ! Let me try to address issues you have raised.

1. We, indeed, don\'t know if the theory is true or not,
because INS is a "black box" ("black hole" is more fitting
description :-). But I think there is a critical mass of evidences
suggesting, that at first FP is sorted by alien number,
and not present in one\'s file, and in some point of time it\'s got
   attached there.

2. If you are concerned that people will jam CSC with phone calls, it\'s already happening, a lot of people are aware about "system 1 vs system 2" issue and are calling anyway, in addition to "usual" calls (this forum is the best evidence of it, you can find a lot of messages with this kind of info). I don\'t think introducing the place for this date into your system will cause deluge of calls to INS.

3. I also don\'t think that it\'s necessary to call each week or each month. I called INS twice during my 6 months wait. First time in early June, month after FP was done (5/2/01) - IIO tried my WAC, then asked for Alien number and found my FP. I\'ve called second time today, nearly 3 months after FP, and this time IIO took my WAC and said, "we received your FP July 13", that\'s how I know "clearance day".

4. It should be made clear to the people that this kind of info is not mandatory to put cases into your system. BTW, I would made it mandatory to provide first five digits of WAC and sort cases according to it, I don\'t think, it violates anybody privacy, current order is a little bit hard to understand.

Best regards
