Hi all
This post is an effort to allay some of the fears that a potential NIV applicant is likely to feel. I got my H1B revalidated in Toronto on 02/21/2002. It was really cool. I will try to account the process in sequence
>Got an apointment from NVARS to appear at the US Consulate General
Toronto at 8.30 am on 02/21/2002
> Recieved my appointment letter within a week.
>Got tourist visa to Canada from Buffalo ( I stay a hour away from
Buffalo, so it was easy.)
>Drove to Toronto on the 20th. I had to do this because we need to pay the
visa processing fee of 45$ at a Scotia Bank in the province of Ontario,
using the slip provided along with the appointment letter.
> Reached the consulate half an hour before the interview time. Got
through security and joined a line of about 8-10 people.
> There are about 8 windows which are used to conduct the visa interview.
> Got my turn in about 20 minutes and was asked to present my documents.
Questions asked
1) What type of visa I am applying ?
Explained that I am applying for a H1B visa ?
2) Where did you graduate ?
From India and I also mentioned the lady that I allready have a H1B
visa
3) Where did you get it stamped ?
In India, at which the interviewer mentioned that she would not have
been able to consider any h1B application with a foreign degree.
4) What do you do?
Job description
5) What does my company do ?
Described company and profile
6) Some small talk
7) Pay 75 $
8) Collect passport in the afternoon on the same day
It really was a breeze, off course my case was only a revalidation so that there should not have been any problem. One more concern that many of us have is that of mistakes in the approval notice. My notice had my last name and petitioner\'s name incorrect, but the stamping had the right info.
Hope it helps
