Successful visa stamping in Montreal, second week of January

I had rather pleasant experience last week in the Montreal US Consulate.

My apopintment for H1 / H4 renewals was early in the morning, so we arrived at the prescribed T-30min to be the first in the waiting room. As it turned out there was no real reason - after we got to the consular area a new line was formed and we came last among 10 or so people who entered the waiting area after us.

I had all the documents they requested - but interestingly they did not ask for a better half of them - probably the name recognition worked - I work for a large company with highly recognizable name and respectable salary.

Wait was not very long, though, and after the first interview with a consul everybody was asked to wait again in a different line for fingerprinting.

After this second interview and fingerprinting we were told to come in the same day to pick our passports with visas.

As I said, the experience was probaby as good as it could be, not much different than what I usually get while obtaining the canadian tourist visas.

Good luck to all.

P.S. probably relevant is - we are holding Russian passports and this was just a visa renewal for the same employer with new I-797 extension.

*bump*

I'm going up tomorrow for a Thursday morning appointment for H-1B revalidation at Montreal. I'll post my experience. Hopefully I will get it same day without issue like ny-quant.
