I just returned from Vancouver after getting my second H1-B stamped successfully.
I am from India. I went to the Canadian consulate in Seattle first to get a visitor visa. They didnt give me any problems as I had all my original documents.
Drove to Vancouver the same day. I went to the US consulate the next day. They asked for the 797 original, employment letter and application forms. They asked me what I do at my job and that was it. They asked me to pick up my passport at 3PM. No problems reentering the US. If you have all the documents, the process is hassle free.
