Finally! Rough timeline as follows:

LC application submitted 2-Jul 2001
I-140 approved 28-Apr 2003
Interview date 26-Jan 2004

Details for those interested:

Once I-140 was approved, PCC from Canada took forever. Then, NVC rejected DS230 form due to minor error (they seem to be very picky, make sure to complete these forms 100% correctly). For this reason I-140 --> Packet 4 took over 6 months.

Medical exam was straightforward. We were asked general questions, and went for X-ray. Was told to bring x-rays to Embassy for the interview, but once at the interview they never asked for them.

Got to embassy at 9:00 AM for a 9:15 appointment. Had to wait in line for about 30 min, got inside at 9:45.

Went to window, was asked to produce documents. We had every document you could imagine (see attached excel for the documents we brought), but they only asked for the following:

PCC
birth certificates
marriage certificate
employment letter
passports
photos
Medical docs (do not open envelope)

Then had to wait for about 20 minutes. Then was called back to the window and spoke to a different person (consular officer). She asked a few very simple questions:

- Do you have a job in the U.S?
- Where did you meet your wife?

The officer was very pleasant. Talked for a few minutes about general topics like the weather, travel etc. Then we were asked to sign DS 230 part II. Then she said everything is good and the visas would be issued.

Was asked to take a seat and wait for another 15 minutes. Then was called back to the window and received the visa documentation and passports.

We came prepared with a lot of documentation, but they did not ask for much. They did not ask for tax returns, paystubs, etc. Interestingly enough they also did not ask for the affidavit of support. In any case, I am glad we were well prepared and had all required documents and more. You never know what they might ask for when you get there.

The whole experience was very pleasant and straightforward.

Important:

1- Must bring chest X-rays when traveling back to U.S.
2 - Wife can not travel ahead of me, but I think she can travel later than me. In any case it is strongly recommended to travel together.

Planning to travel back to U.S. later this week.

A 3 year wait has finally come to an end.
