Successful H4 interview on 8th year H Visa in Delhi

I am on my 8th year of H1. I did not had current visa stamp on my passport but had approved 797 and 539 notice. My wife and daughter went to Delhi consulate for stamping and it was a smooth experience. We are from Gujarat but my wife decided to go to Delhi since she had relatives in Delhi. Everything went well. We will get the passport by mail in about 4 days at our residence in Gujarat.

Thanks for the info. My wife will be going to India in about a month or so. I have applied for my 8th yera H1B extension (current I-797 valid for next 3 months)and my wife has approved I-797 form (H4) valid for the next 3 months. I was wonderiing if my wife would need to get I-797 form for H4 VISA approved for anoth year from here before leaving for India or would she be able to get H4 VISA stamping in Delhi (india)based on my 8th year H1B approval notice which I am expecing to receive in the next 4-5 months.

I think since H4 is a dependent VISA, dependent is not required to apply for H4 extension before leaving for India as the dependent could get the H4 VISA stamped on the passport from India based on H1B applicant's I-797 form approval. This would be similar to the case when the dependent would get the H4 visa stamp for the first time.

Any suggestions.
