Hi guys,
I am really thankful to this forum. It has helped me a lot..
I had my stamping at the Mumbai Consulate on 6th of june. It was my first stamping. My husband had applied for H4 and we both had our interviews together.
The entire process was as follows:
First we went to the intake counter, where my I-797 and I-129 was taken. They handed over DS-156, DS-157, and a pink slip containing our token numbers.
Second was finger printing at Counter 1. Just 2 min and this was done. After that we waited for our tokens to be called. Our interview slot was 2:30. However, due to 06-06-06 (Evils day they say!!!) there was no rush in the consulate yesterday.
We hardly waited for 10 min before our token was called. The VO was a very sweet American lady. Interview went as follows:
VO: Good Afternoon
We: Good Afternoon
VO: Where do u work?
Me: I work for XXX Company.
VO (looked at my husband): Which client is she going to work for in USA?
My husband: YYY
VO: Which city are you going?
Me: ZZZ
VO(smiled): So, since how long do you know each other?
My husband: 3 years
VO: And when did u get married?
Me: gave the date
VO: So, was it an arranged marraige?
My husband: It was a combined marraige and smiled
VO laughed and said: So how did u meet?
My husband gave these details
VO: I am very happy to see that ur husband understands u so much. Otherwise this is very rare in India that a married girl is going on H1B
We smiled
VO: I will definitely issue ur visas. They will reach at the given address in 2 days. All the best to both of you...
We thanked her and left.
Guys and Gals, these people are really cool. Only thing is dont speak loud and be patient. A guy in front of me was rejected only bcoz he was speaking so loudly that even the people sitting outside the VO's cabin were able to hear him.
As far as my personal experience is concerned, I think that these people are very sensitive as far as relationships are considered. If your spouse is accompanying you, prove them that urs is a very strong relationship and you both are willing to sacrifice anything for each other.
