I got my H1 visa revalidated in Mumbai without too many hassles through the drop box process.
Some Tips that I feel might be helpful
1. Get your pictures taken at the Visa-Services location only. They will find some problem or the other with your pictures taken from somewhere else. Besides they make 100Rs for every picture
.
2. You may even get a Demand Draft done at that office. They have a bank counter available right there. Just carry cash.
3. Do not carry any kind of bags, they just allow you to carry a thin polythene bag only.
4. If you have a child who needs an H4 stamp, you will need a signed letter from both you and your spouse that the child will be travelling with both of you to the US.
5. Make a list of all the dates when you entered/left the US and attach it with your DS-156. This information can be found from the immigration stamps in your passport.
6. Carry two copies of the first and last page of your passport with you.
I received the passports on the 4th business day. If you are confident about your papers, you may even avail of the Blue Dart pickup service.
