Wanted some information on the testing that is done during a Medical. I am scheduled for Interview in New Delhi in late Feb. Do they do a skin test for TB ? Or they just look at the chest X-ray for the same ? What if they see anything that does not look right for TB ? I have heard that skin test is not very reliable since lot of us have been exposed some time or the other. I am planning on getting it all checked here before I leave, so that I am not in for any surprises.
Thanks.

No Title

I did my medical in Prague and only X-rays were required there.

I believe if they find any TBC you have to undergo a treatment. It does not prevent you from the immigration.

Hi Mukul, Only X-Rays.

They found TB on my X-Rays. She had it about 10 yrs. back and completed the treatment in India. X-rays are showing the past ones but we still have to prove that TB is no more present, she has to take sputum tests for 3 days at consulate approve Lab. Medical report was given after completing the sputum test. Mean while we have to attend Interview. Consulate issued Visa to me and wife\'s was pending. They will issue pending medical report. She has to go back to consulate on nest bus. day to get visa issued.

Get X-rays checked. If they have any suspesion, do the sputum test there it self. If it is cleared from the sputum test, you are fine. Otherwise start the treatment immediately. Even if sputum is cleared allow 4 days between the medicals and visa so that you can get the clearance before you go to the Interview.

Superman - Thanks and a Q

If she did not have active infection, then there would have been no sputum to test at all?
do you know what if they are unable to clear ? No visa or just asked to take treatment upon returning to US ?
I got the Xray done and it looks good, nothing in it, so I should be fine.
Thanks
