Successful CP at mumbai POE Detroit
Again thanks for your help. Its better late then never. Here is my entire experience.
Case:
CP process thorugh NVC for my wife and myself (no kids) at mumbai
Medicals at Breach Candy:
Took the appointment from USA all they ask is your name and date of interview.
Reached before the time. Waited in the sitting area
Then they opened the door and gave a form for each applicant to fill out. Filled in the form and went in with the form , fees(1600 for each), passport and the appointment letter.
Everything was normal as described in the other posts.I had no previous vaccination records and it is not at all needed. They will give the MMR and rest all vaccinations are not advisable for the age. The sequence was as follows
First they take fees etc
Then the blood test
Then the Xrays
Then the break for 1 hour
Then medical checkup along with vaccinations
finally the reports same day.
Interview at the consulate:
We went to the consulate half an hour before the appointment time. They started letting in 15 mins before only. Do not carry metal objects, CDs (I guess DVD too), cigarettes and pan masalas etc. No bags with zipper. It is better to have a transparent folder and plastic bags.
Take the wooden token with you. they give this when you enter. Sometimes they forget to give it better ask. Once you get this please keep this token in some safe place dont carry in the hand as it is only required when you leave the consulate. If you forget or loose when you leave the security will pakofy you.
Gave our appointment letter at the desk and they asked us to take seat in the immigrant section facing counter 10,11,12.Waited 15-30 min when my name was called at counter 12. The Indian lady collected all the required documents,
1. Appointment letter
2. Passport
3. Medical report
4. PCC
5. copy of Birth certificate
6. copy of Marriage certificate
7. Employment letter for myself
8. photos ( my wife has a shadow in the photo hence she was asked to take a new photo inside the consulate)
9. Affadavit of support for my wife
10. DS 230 part I and II
In 230 we were asked to change address to india address and mother's middle name to her fathers name not husband's name ( ie mother's name before marriage) dont know why??
Then we sat in the sitting area
we were called at counter 9 in about 45min to an hour. The American person asked us to raise hand and swear. He asked me standard questions lke.
-- when did you go to usa
-- how long have you been there
-- which school you attended
-- which degree
-- which was your first company
-- which is your current company
-- how long are you with the current company
-- where are the offices of your company
-- how many people work in your office
-- what is your job title
-- job responsibilities
-- when did you get married
-- not sure any more ????
No questions asked to my wife. took the index finger scan and asked to come at 2:30 to collect the visas
WE were out by 10:30 am
POE:
We waited in the visitor’s line at Detroit. The officer at the counter checked the visa and asked phone number and Then directed us to wait at the "special processing" counter The officer collected our documents and stamped on our passport to be valid until 1 year from the POE date. Took finger prints and said this will go in the Green card.
The whole POE process might have took less than 20 minutes including wait time.
We wish “All the best”to the CP folks.
Thanks to Rajiv Khanna for maintaining this site.
And the seniors (KD, Alren , Raju, VM etc.) without their help it would have been very difficult to understand the CP process.
