Hi

I have 72 points on the current assessment test for canadian PR. Would my application go through for sure? Thanks.

Hey Trueman999-Three years back the pass mark was only 70 and those that scored >60 were invited for an interview. The system has been revised and the new pass mark is 75.

I am in the same boat.

I also have the same problem. Previously they used to give 8 points for demographic factor, now they have stopped it. I am also on 72 points, anybody with same points and got approval?

Hello Genius, Life 123:

Do either of you have more info about applying with 72 points? Thanks.

Hi,

My points, as per my evaluation stands at 75. Probably when they evaluate it might be less. The reason being French.
I took french for two years in high school and for a quarter at university. No idea how they evaluate my French.

The point is, I applied fully aware that I might end up with anywhere between 72 and 75 points.

Just wait for a couple of months, see how it goes for the borderliners and decide whether you are willing to risk it.

Anyway they are supposed to re-consider the pass mark 18 months after its initial implementation.

With just 25 000 applications received between 10/02 and 2/03 (they received 125 000 for the same period the previous year), probably they will take a re-look sooner.

Also, that's a loss of CAD$50 000 000 in application fees (500*100 000). Hope the treasury department is taking a closer look !

Good Luck.

Hey, CanI:

Where did you read that they are waiting 18 months to re-consider the pass mark? Is this for sure? I've read that they're are going to re-evaluate, but i never heard when...

I hope this will include the IELTS's points passmark. I need 7 in all the four IELTS tests to get 75 points. But I always get only one mark above 7. All the others are 6 and 6.5!!!!! Because that I could score only 69 and my process is running already (in Brazil)!!

My application got in the office 5 days before the new law came into effect. I knew my application would be evaluated under the new rules, but i didn't know the language proficiency would be assessed by the IELTS... so, in december i received a letter asking me to do it.

I got two informal job offers and have a networking with canadian professionals from my field who could recommend me as a possible well established immigrant, but this all doesn't give me points.

Bye

Hi

I applied for canadian Permenant residence on Feb 6 2002 through Buffalo centre from US, I had 74 points at that time. As per the new rules i am falling short of 1 point. My application will be reviewed for initial assesment any time in the next few weeks.

Will my application be rejected?
Should i withdraw my application?

Please advise.
