Hi All,

I am happy that we had smooth and successful CP interview yesterday
at Chennai.

First of all I want to thank you all and forum. This was incredible
help for to know the process and also getting to know the actual
issues at the consulate. Thanks again.

We reached Chennai on Dec 10 and went to lister on 11th at 11am and
had lab tests. They said I will get my results next day only. So,
I collcted my lab results next day between 4:30 to 5 pm. We went to
Dr. Vijayalakshmi next day. Due her assistant mess up in scheduling
appointments we had to wait almost 4 hours for 40 minutes process.
But Dr is nice and acknowledged the issue and told her assistant
to schedule one hour appointments for family of 3 instead flat 15 mins.

We reached consulate at 8am, and the security guy asked
us to wait for few minutes. We were in by 8.10 and waited under the
shamiana for about 45 minutes before we went inside. The counter
person collected all of our docs and verified the order (all of them
were in order) and asked us to pay $260 (Rs.12480) DDs at cash counter.
We paid the DDs and went to shamiana and waiting again. After a while
a lady officer came out and administered mass oath for all the applicants.
Then started waiting again, then they called us at 10:20. The lady
officer at the counter was nice. She returned all the original BC, MC,
affidavits. She asked me are you working in so and so company and how
long have been working there. Thats it. I attached last three months
bank statements. She kept one in my application and one in my wife\'s
application and one in my kid\'s application. She kept only 2000 tax
transcript and returned 1999 and 1998 tax transcripts. She told us to
pay issuance DDs at cash counter then go home. By 10:45 we were
out of consulate with happy faces.

Today morning at 11am we got our PPs by Bluedart courier. There was
an error in my son\'s gender, they mentioned it as Female. So I have
to go to consulate with bluedart DD again tomorrow. But that is OK
for me because I wanted to stay in Chennai until 22nd anyway.

Some of things better to know:
- last Paystub is required now.
- No bags, not even small handbags, are allowed inside.
- Have 3 days after the interview.
  - next day you receive your PPs by bluedart
  - if you find any errors in critical info, you need to take another
bluedart DD and go to consulate again next day between 8 to 9 am.
  - next day you get the PPs by bluedart.
- Kid\'s birthplace is different on PP and BC, no questions asked.
- No issues with first and last names.

Are original bank statements required to be submitted ?

Are original bank statements required to be submitted or will copies suffice ??? Is it okay to use white-out on the account number ? It\'s really not necessary for the US Embassy to find out about our bank account number.

Visa fees for kid

Hi Vego, I have a son of 5 years old, can you please give me details about visa fees and other documents needed for children. Is Medical chekup needed for kids also.

Please give me as much details as you can, I appreciate your help.

Bank balance amount ?

This might sound silly, but my situation is very bad with poor bank balance. Could someone suggest how much minimum amount should the bank balance statements reflect.

Thanks

No difference in fee for kids...

and Kids need not go to Lister labs, but should go for medical
physician and get the report. If kid did not have any immunization
then doctor will give it. So all immunization records that you have.

I could not access internet for these days, so the delay in response.

Bank account number is important...

They have more critical and important information than the bank
account number. So, submitting with clear account number does not
harm.

Original bank statements are required.

I submitted only one paystub..2 should be fine.

but carry as many as possible upto 3 months.
